NOVEL HANDS-OFF LIBRARY PREPARATION
PROJECT OVERVIEW
Next-generation sequencing (NGS) has evolved into a fundamental tool for the monitoring of virus outbreaks across the world. Throughout the current SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, NGS has been implemented for high-throughput COVID-19 diagnosis, identification, and surveillance of new variants. NGS platforms continue to become more widely available given the development of smaller, more economical devices; however, library preparation continues to be a hindrance for a broader implementation of NGS in clinical settings. The design and production of a novel hands-off library preparation platform will allow rapid and low-cost sequencing for SARS-CoV-2 testing and variant identification, removing the need for a trained laboratory technician, and reducing times with minimal user manipulation.
